Sunsets and Lost Love
A cool pink glow in the western sky this evening was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. There was a peace and brightness about it.
It was the kind of sunset that made you feel like John Wayne. I felt a distance between me and everything real.
I sat there watching the sunset for a long time, and thought about a lot of things. Foremost among them, the delusion that today's world is a maddening place for any man trying to lead a decent life without hiring himself out as a Judas goat.
Sometimes at dusk, when you are trying to relax and not think of what's wrong with the world, that shit just creeps in your mind's thoughts
The God of Sunset dangles both hope and pessimism like a carrot just out of reach... Reminding you... Reminding you of something you never quite got hold of, and never would...
And no matter how much you wanted those things... There was always a current that pushed you off in the other direction... And that some things in life that matter the most no longer matter because they are gone...
