Even Ebola would win an Election against Mayor Miller Today…

Last week, it was being whispered in the media and political circles of all levels that Toronto’s Mayor Miller was in real trouble… Shameful and ugly personal things were being said.

I tweeted a few of the statements I overheard in public to the dismay of Mayor Miller who sent me a personal DM… (SEE BELOW) He spoke some Key Message about my lack of truth but where was his?

Some whispered about back-room-deals, that his once proud political ship had sprung some serious leaks, that in a matter of weeks he went from high-rent to low-rent politician, old women who worked the night shift at McDonald’s cursed his name, others about his shoddy golf game…But so what? He’s a politician. That’s nothing new in the politics business.

It happened to Ronald Reagan and he had a harem of master tacticians to orchestrate his every move.

Miller may be shaken by the first four weeks of the strike. Polls have him at his lowest approval rating as Mayor…. But it’s not time, yet, for him to drop the gloves and say, “No Mas, No Mas…”

He has a strategy and he has stuck to it, even though it has failed him daily… To sell his version of the strike negotiations, by making public CUPE demands and blaming the strikers for everything from sending the city into bankruptcy to messing up his golf game have all backfired to the delight of his opponents and the blood thirsty tribe of Toronto media.

And by the end of yesterday, his political ship had yet again hit another iceberg, by blaming Toronto’s fiscal woes on the demands of the unions.

Blaming city workers for Toronto's fiscal woes may have sounded like a strong strategy in the war-room, but the public saw through it, including his own council members, many of them Miller Loyalists who have now jumped ship.

As of yesterday it was official in political circles on all levels of government. Miller could never be trusted again. He was finished in Toronto politics. Miller who?

His political sales job to the public about Toronto’s fiscal problems can’t be so easily blamed on the Unions. After all, Toronto’s financial books are the result of poor, uncreative decisions by council.

The platform of promises, since elected, has been crumbling beneath him, jabbering about raising taxes, and his utterly shameful 2.42 per cent pay raise for councilors during a recession is not what Toronto wanted in a leader.

Yet the Mayor is keeping to his Key Message Rhetoric, with the belief that he is winning public opinion…

Well… As one of my good friends in Ontario Cabinet office said to me this morning when I asked him if he would vote for Miller again… “Even Ebola would win an election against Miller today. He is finished.”

Well there you have it folks. That just about sums up all the Mayor Miller talk I've been hearing on the streets and hallways of Toronto. It's harsh, but we live in Cruel times and the Political Business has always been a Blood Sport...

Imagine that... Ebola winning an election. The times have certainly changed....

Wait... Hold-up here buddy! Everyone and their mother knows the Mayor lives in the High Park area, yet why didn't he answer the question about dump sites in Forest Hill and Rosedale? Are the taxpayers, movers and shakers in that area of Toronto a bit too powerful for the Mayor to upset with a dump site? Does a tax-payer class system exist when it comes to picking temporary dump sites during the strike?
