From Bubbles to Booking?

The Situation...

Its shit and humiliating, what this young girl experienced. She came, like most people, to the G20 protests with innocent intentions. To voice an opinion, freely. A right guaranteed by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. A right that makes our nation a better place to live than most in World. But like this young girl, hundreds of peaceful protesters ended up having their rights trampled upon.

This (edited) video clearly shows an officer that let his emotions get the best of a peaceful situation. Instead of handling the situation rationally, he blew it up to a point it did not have to go... The arrest of a girl whose intentions are clearly not to harm the officers.

Ignorance... Brutality... Inhumane conditions...

Did the girl know that the detergent could possibly get in the eyes of one of the officers? I doubt it. Any rational thinking person can see this girl had no intent to harm the officers?

It is safe to say, there were thousands of people that came to protest with peaceful intentions, yet they were unaware of the police mentality or potential outcome waiting for them... Jail.

Most protesters that were arrested and detained at the G20 ranted about police brutality, crowded holding cells and inhumane conditions at the temporary detention centre. I'm guessing most of those detainees never really experienced a stint in jail. Crowded jail cells and police abuse - mental and physical - is a common experience for anyone that has been arrested and detained...

Innocence vs Harsh Reality...

The G20 protesters had every right to protest, but they came with an innocent outlook. Any person that grew-up in Regent Park or any sketchy neighbourhood knows first hand the mentality of the police. Only a fool or a ridiculously brave person would antagonize a police officer, bubbles or not...

Given the evidence of this (edited) video, the girl that was arrested will most likely have her charges thrown out. Judges are a different breed compared to the police.

Protesters take Heed...

If you want to be a protester, prepare yourself for the worst possible outcome... That can include extreme acts of violence and possible detention...

I know it sounds harsh... Seriously, she should know better not to antagonize the police regardless if it is bubbles or not. I feel for her, she's innocent in her intentions. And too innocent in not knowing the mentality of the police...

* Not all the police I witnessed were overzealous. I saw numerous situations where police were being spat-on and antagonized with threats. Situations in which they had every right to make an arrest, but they didn't. They held their cool.
